HOME FOR CHRISTMAS
Home being a relative term of course because we have also tried to make a home for ourselves in Norway as much as is possible, but being with family definitely adds a deeper sense of being "Home" and seeing as we were in Norway the last 2 Christmases, it was a blessing to be able to to celebrate with loved ones. Of course the 3 1/2 weeks went by much too quickly, but we had a lot of memories to take back with us. We were also able to see some dear friends who were in town that made us realize even more how much we miss them. We experienced a different level of culture shock during this return trip but also appreciate the many conveniences and openness and warmth of Americans- shocking as it seemed to us at times! We think we managed to spend as equal of time as possible with both families (we are fortunate they live only a 10 min. drive away) so left feeling both satisfied and exhausted! The trip gave us much to think about as we pray about our move back to the states in July or the beginning of August and our future plans. Please pray for us as we both continue the process of applying for grad school at a several seminaries. We want to make sure we are doing what God wants us to do and that we accomplish all that He has for us to accomplish during the remainder of our time here in Norway. Prayers for creativity, focus, and motivation for the new semester are much needed as well as for the transition time for the ministry. We pray that you had a blessed holiday season as well and are filled with peace, excitement and hope for what 2009 will bring! We are so thankful for you in our lives!
Our visit to Duluth was a cold and snowy one, but great to spend the weekend with Danielle and GrantVisiting the Haavik family in Duluth
We did manage to find a few moments to rest at home and spend New Years at Brett's family's log home cabin- 12 people and 5 dogs!
Father-Son bonding and a miracle full family pic!Cortney's youngest nephew Colton has gotten big and happy since April!

Thanks for sharing those wonderful family pictures :-) You know, our families are all in the U.S., but it is just as rare for us to spend time with everyone...
Brett & Cortney,
I was at a random jewelry party for one of my friends today and I met your sister Brooke! She lives just down the street from my good friend Krista. Small world.
We've been praying for you guys and hope that your time with Chuck and Sally went well!
